Yep, we're growing rapidly now.  Welcome one and all.  My first task was to weld rear shocks back to frame.  Bracket had broken free and the unit was almost undrivable!

This looks like a good group!

My wife & I ran across a 1979 Champion TransVan Model 604, 19', on a Dodge Sportsman Chassis about a year & a half ago.  We put it in mechanical order (about 3x what we paid for it), redid the interior (for the first time - the nasty shag rug was the first to go), and began using it to tow our boat out to state, county, & national parks.  It's a little bit of a tight fit to sleep in wintertime (my wife, me, and our two dogs) but in the summer we put a tent up outside for more room.  It's nice though for towing our boat.  Only other gripe is that as an early transVan, you cannot stand up in the main area (little bit of a crick int he back after a few days).

We're beginnng a new redo - actually pretty much restoring it - this spring, including replacing all of the cabinets inside, repainting the outside, replacing the window tracks in the coach, and replacing the dash.

I'll try to post some photos and where we're going as I figure out the process here - hope this post works; been having a little trouble with the login/update sequence.

Any other TransVan/TransStar owners in this group?

Mike

Hi, I have a 1982 TransStar, with 4KW Onan.  I have had it for about 12 years, and really taken are of it.  We had some very happy travels in it.  Now that I am widowed, I don't use it, except to carry some long things that won't fit in a car.  It has too many memories, and I really don't need it anymore.
I replaced the upper cabinets in mine, too, and made the new ones out of real wood.  I also replaced the tracks in my sliding windows, too, but my dash is fine, as it has it's own RVport out of the TX sun !  I added Four Way shocks to the front,  it has a sway bar, and Firestone Ride-Rite Air bags on the rear, so it handles great.   I added a lot of storage too.
Best wishes with your re-do, we would love to see some pictures.   Happy Trails,  Penny, TX

I loved my dog, he wasn't motivated by money.

First thing I did with my 77 was the shocks and front springs, drove like a boat on a rough lake, Hydraulic shock were completely shot. Tune up, new alternator, Rebuilt the carb, Tires, basically made it safe for the road. Check out my website for some tips, not a Dodge but interior renovations are similar

I really like all the pics on your site. What random renovations, and on so many different rigs! And that you documented it is really great.

Wow, two more and we top 600.  Not bad for a little specialized web site.  Welcome aboard one and all.
