I over here again. Hope a few more MH owners join. Mine is not a classic, but so many things on MHs and trailers are typical and I'm sure I will learn a lot.

Hey, gang,

My fiance and I just purchased a 1983 Executive Diplomat. She's in great shape, but needs a little TLC (the RV needs some work too).

I found this site while searching the net for some advice about getting the RV fixed up and road-ready, as she's been sitting idle for a long, long time. My priorities are:

1. Replacing the battery isolator and un-doing the previous owner's "bypass" wiring,
2. Replacing the LP gas valve and regulator which broke off due to a blow-out on the 400 mile drive home (yes, I know, I should have replaced the dry-rotted tires right away),
3. Installing the plumbing, which apparently was never installed and never used,
4. Verifying the appliances, furnace and A/C still work,
5. Fixing the fiberglass damage around the wheel-well due to the afore-mentioned blow-out,

and then asthetics...
6. Getting rid of the yellowing of the external side-panels (a good cleaning, possibly a new paint-job),
7. Replacing the interior carpet,
8. Replacing/updating the dashboard and instrument panel???

Anyway... glad to be here.

Hello! This is a great site - I was referred here by someone from RV.net and I have already found tons on my new purchase, a 1978 23' C class ROADRANGER w/ a Dodge 440. One of the best comments I have seen so far is that the purchase price is actually a down payment.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/rvs/619611197.html

It has a great layout, great owner/sellers and the price was right. And it runs.

We are hopeful we will be able to eventually take the thing from Oregon to Wisconsin.

I'm interested in what people have done first when buying an RV of this age. Also, anything anyone might know about this engine.

Thanks! Glad to be here!

First thing I did with my 77 was the shocks and front springs, drove like a boat on a rough lake, Hydraulic shock were completely shot. Tune up, new alternator, Rebuilt the carb, Tires, basically made it safe for the road. Check out my website for some tips, not a Dodge but interior renovations are similar
