| Not much activity on the site except for lots of new members. I wonder if people are cleaning up from the storms that swept the east coast yesterday. At any rate, welcome to all the new members. Don't be shy. Jump right in and tell us about yourself. |

Posted By new-to-rving on 01/01/2008 10:00 PM thank for the replies, i wonder when you guys were repairing your roofs and walls and tracing mystic wires that seem to go nowhere, did you just stop say WHAT the, i did and thats why when working inside the 2 things i 1st got working was the a/c and the frig for the beer , not to mention all the " wiring improvements" former owners made. WOW! Well, I have a older unit than yours. But they did the wiring right on this one but the amish didn't do a very good job with the cabinets and doors!! I have had to reface or rebuild all teh cabinets in this coach!! The roof is my next area that was shoddy at best! it leaked no mater what we did so I have had the roof rebuilt!! rubber roof!! No leaks since!! one minor leak thru the back wall which was fixed by using rubber caulk on the rear clearence lights!! No leaks since and I love that!! The kitchen is another progect all by itself!! And the last to be finished. thats where I am right now. It is on hold till RoadRunner RV can get our awning to work right. Then i can start the kitchen. I have been working on two different things..me for one, I just had some testing and we are waiting to hear from them as to if there is any cancer or not. the second is the toad. The mice had a field day with the wiring under the hood!! I have been looking for a short in the lights,[parking/running]. The brake lights, turn signals, Back-up and the headlights all work. The park lights are dead short. I have been looking for over a week on and off!! so far nothing. I have a Chiltons manual but half the wiring they don't show so..its time for another manual, enter Hayses. should be in by saturday or monday. I still have to finish teh hitch and brake system and tow lights to install yet! And some minor body work to do and it will be ready to romp!! More later, Dan

Capt. Dan, what you need is a short finder, check maybe sears or someone,or replace the fuse with a circuit breaker, and trace the harness from the diferent sections and start unplugginuntil the breaker stops tripping. those aftermonkey manuals alot of times give you just enough info. to get ya into trouble and that's it. for me the rv is maybe on hold, the wife wants to remodel the bath room which is causing contravirsy lol. I told her we need to fix the rv so we can sell the house and show up at friend's and relatives' homes and say hi!, plug this in, ha ha ha! |

Hi, I finally did find the short and all the lights work now. Thanks as a friend had one of those short testers that helped me to find it. there is one thing I don't like about his ..The wand you use to find the short with,[ the transmitter is on the two connections at the fuse for the short], That wand is the receiver will find ALL the wires that connect with the shorted wire, But has a hard time finding exactly where the one wire is and where it was really shorted. I was taking the plastic wrap off and trying to find where the right wire was to narrow down the search. It was under the dash where I found it and another Nest that was why the wiring was chewed there. Never saw it till I had the gages and front panels out and I was able to see the nest and the wires. Now, If I can find out if I need to switch out the auto lock hubs to manual hubs. I can finish the tow system....

Hello all!!! Long time visitor, first time member -hehe. My dad(rnr42005) showed me this place... WOW what a perfect idea for a forum!!
So about myself.... Grew up in Florida, did some military time in Yuma, AZ where I met my lovely wife, then moved to Ridgecrest, CA were we currenlty reside. Let me tell you, this town is a goldmine: small-town feel (around 30k), but within 3 hours driving, you can be doing ANYTHING you want. We chose camping in the Seirra's.
Got two kids, 1 each, 17 months apart, oldest is two. Got 3 dogs, who get jealous when we leave them behind for trips (we try not to). As for camping, we bought a 1983 Fleetwood Regal 5th wheel from a very close friend of mine. Everything works, and its pretty darn clean for being 25 years old. Well, I take that back... Just found out my OG linear converter charger no longer charges. Before yesterday, we pulled with a 2003 GMC 1500 ext cab. Obviously way under powered, and taking the kids, with 3 dogs made for a cramped cab. As of yesterday, we have a 2006 Dodge MegaCab, 5.9l CTD. What a difference!! Will have pics up of family, camping, and rig set-up soon.
