I have looked a a few sites for gas tanks for this beast since mine has developed a leak and i need to have at least a worst case idea of price for a new one ( might just go with a new one any way for safety and such, but all i can find is for the vans nothing listed for the  1977 f40 chassis. anyone have any ideas on where to look. I sent an Email to gastanks.com hoping they might have something and am waiting for a response.
thanks
george

I've been doing an online search for the appropriate fuel tanks for you but am discovering they are real tough to find online.

If you don't mind salvage, an RV salvage yard should have something compatible. A good nationwide list is:
http://www.ccis.com/home/mnemeth/rvsalvage.htm

(wouldn't hurt to ask if they know of sources for *new* fuel tanks. They just might).

Depending on the tank's overall condition maybe a simple de-rusting, cleaning, and repair will be enough. Both plastic and metal ones are usually repairable and it might be cheaper to go that route. Welders are in the phone book, or look under "plastics" or ask the motorhome mechanics.

You might also call up your local RV supply store and and the motorhome dealers and ask around. Most dealerships have a service department that can do parts locating. Your local motorhome repair shop should also be able to locate some leads for you. All these places are listed in the phone book. Call around, persist, and you'll get the answers you need.

Hope this helps,

try www.eastwood.com or 1-800-345-1178.They have first rate auto body tools, supplies, ect. They also sell a gas tank cleaner/reseal kit that is great. We've used them on 2 antique cars and they were easy to use.At least as easy to use as fighting a gas tank around gets.My last Flyer said $52.00 for the kit.

I just ask a OLD RV service manager if he could order one per my specs,
Kinda pricey but it works well.....
If you can draw up the demensions including the fuel inlet go
for it.....
My old fuel inlet was 5 inches below the top of the tank which led to
poor fillup habits and also moved the vent return to the top also.
With the drawing it was perfect and now hold 82 gallons (old was 80).
