Just thought I'd post an update! I'm a newbie to the RV world, so this is definently a learning experiance. So, after three weeks of ownership:
- Put in new air filter, rotor, distrib. cap, plugs, coil, wires, pump
(for AC), alternator, exhaust pipe and new gas caps
- Got a digital multimeter and feel very special (had one with a gauge but this is much slicker)
- Getting a tune up / once over by mechanic. Worried about transmition but we'll see
- Took shelving out of shower (put there by previous owner)
- Cleaning! Repainted all plastic trim black, waxed the aluminum (looks niiiice!)
- Fixing two screens
- Recovering couch
- Purchased new sewar hose, Therford Supreme Green for the blackwater
system and TastePure for the freshwater, water hose and tank filler
- Replaced door stop, 4 out of 5 vent covers (including a really hard to find refrigerator vent cover)
To do:
- Um. Fridge doesn't work. Considering it is probably original, not surprising.
- Toilet leaks when flushing (right at the flush button)
- Get spare key made (had one made at Home Deopt and it doesn't work) - Need new handle on grey water dump valve (or just use vice grips)
- Decide what deep cell to get... the space is only 11x10x9 which seems to limit me on choices
- Buy spare fuses, LP / CO2 alarms, new tires and possibly breaks
- There is no matress in the over the cab bed so I may put one in, or we just may use it for storage
Also, we have two cats, and I need to make sure there are no "escape holes" that they can get out of.
So far so good! Most frustrating thing was after putting in all the new parts, she wouldn't start. Would start for 45 sec. and then kill. Twiddled with it long enought and now we're back to normal.

We've had her for a month!
Done: - Transmission is fine! - we had hoped since when we looked in the pan there were no metal chips or anything. Just needed about $100 of tightening and adjusting. - Working on new curtains, cleaning blinds - Put on tires and got new shocks (biggest expenditure so far) - New muffler and tail pipe - Breaks checked - look good - Grey water dump valve fixed
Doing: - Still need to get carb adjusted - Getting new deep cell today - There is a leak in the manifold that is a little loud - Something in the exhaust is loud still - Still working on toilet. - May have to save up for new fridge. Using the old one as an "ice box" for now - Buy spare fuses, LP / CO2 alarms
Yes - a lot of work. I am in Oregon, hope to move back to the Midwest some time. Not sure if she'll make it (we will gradually extend the length of our trips to make sure all is good.) My man is working doing construction contract work and can call the shots as far as his work schedule so he's had time to run this back and forth to the repair places and does a lot of work himself.
Funny (frightening) story -- He was driving it to the transmission place after getting the tires put on, and luckilly was followed by a friend. All the back tires started wobbling and his friend made him pull over. Had to get it towed back to Midas because they put the tires on wrong! (didn't secure - anyone heard of this?) AK! Aparently now fixed and Midas paid $250 tow bill.
