In the last 90 days our little site has grown from three members to nearly sixty and from one post to over 1200. We're bumping our head on adding one new member every day now and more and more people are joining our classic motorhome community. A number of members have requested some features to help identify information about our members. No personal information, but simply information about the rig they own, if they are interested in helping a fellow member with a breakdown in their area, etc.
I've been working on some new technology which will allow us to find other members using Google Maps. I know when I've been on the side of the road it would be nice to click on a map and see the other members near me that have expressed a willingness to help with a mechanical breakdown...or even some overnight parking.
In order to make this work I need to ask for some more information from each member. Namely a city, state and zip code along with some YES/NO settings for questions like "I Can Help Another Member within 50 miles" etc. I'll also add some additional address info as we might do some mailing in the future...but it won't be required.
I wanted to post about this change well in advance so everyone has a chance to weigh in on the subject. Once implemented, the next time you log in you will be asked to enter the required information into a profile page. Again, only some of this info will be required. For new members, they will still register quickly with the a username, email and password - but when they get their confirmation email and log in they too will have to complete the profile.
So, I'm looking for some feedback, concerns, comments, etc on this change.

This weekend we'll be implementing the new expanded user information. When you log onto the site again you will be presented with a "Profile" page. You'll need to complete this page in order to log in. Only a few fields will be required. This is a one time change, so once you complete your profile, you won't need to to it again.
If anyone has questions about this, please post then here. Thanks for your cooperation. |

Hey Steve. Nice looking family! Great job on the profiles. Can't figure out why you claimed my wife when yours is so pretty. Mystery. Okay, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about. When Steve was describing the new profiles he said "take a look at one, Mine" and the link went to our picture. Been teasing him since. Okay, I'll quit now. |

yes I used to go to Daytona in Feb and Jul till 99 when they changed the traffic patterns.I would park in the greyhound track and could get out in 20 min. then changed the flow of traffic now takes 1 hr to get on the road and4 hrs to get home. now I just turn on the tube.not quite as loud as the track .but not as far to go as the bathroom at the track. |

We went to Daytona a couple years ago. BIG TRACK!
Went to NH International Speedway for years, but each year it got more rowdy @ the camping area. The cops locked the gates one night when some idiots were shooting flares up in the air. 12 trailers burned that year. They denied it even happened.
I catch pretty much every race on TV now as well. |

The New Member Profile Information is now live! The next time you log into the site you will be directed to an "Update Your Profile" page. Simply complete this online form one time and your updated profile will be completed.
This updated profile information will allow us to provide members with some new functionality such as a "Member Map (using Google Maps), a courtesy parking list, a breakdown support or "blue list" as well as being able to show your coach information on your profile, etc. in the forums.
We're only requiring that you provide your postal code and country on your profile, but the more information you can provide about yourself and your coach, etc. the better you will be able to utilize some of the new features coming in the next few months.
Of course, only provide what you are comfortable sharing and remember that we don't share your information with anyone else.
You can always update your member profile information at any time by logging into the site and clicking on your name in the top right corner of the site. This will display your account info. Clicking on the "Manage My Profile" link will allow you to make changes to your profile at your convieniance. Thanks for your support on this and we look forward to providing you with some great new features in the near future! If anyone has questions or concerns about this please feel free to email me directly at swebster@thisoldrv.com. |

Bob, I had to log off then back on to get the update page!
If you have it so you don't have to log on each time, this is what you will need to do. |

Chris is correct. The update will occur the next time you log on. So, if you are setup to "remember login" then you will need to either logout and login...or click on your name to view your account, then click on Manage My Profile and complete the profile form there. |
