Hi guys as of a few days ago, that old beast is living in my driveway. A quick web search turned up this site, and I joined, 73krager? I think your name must have been what triggered finding this forum, lol. The old coach is a little rough around the edges, however, it runs good. The wiring will be a real nightmare, but anything binder powered is certain to have wiring issues, this I know from long years of being a harvester nut. So far the only thing that I have found that may be a problem, is the cracked pass side windshield, the rest is all just labor.. Happy to find someone else with one of these old beasts. Clyde |

Clyde,
Did you buy it? I hope so. Last one I found went to the scrap yard for recycle. It was free!!!!! I am really interested in the interior configuration. Mine has been redone to sleep only two and I would like to see what original ones look like. How long is yours? I have never seen the front end like that one. All of the others have the art deco front end. I believe the 73 is when the International chassis was first used. Prior to that the Chevy chassis was used I believe. My previous owner said the IH392 was prone to overheating. Man did he ever fix that. I have a whole lake of water papacity and the largest tranny cooler in the world. He also replaced the 392 with a Mopar 440. Do you have any documentation? I have some and would be happy to share back and forth. Can you read the serial number on the door plate? I am going to stop ranting now. I am just giddy to find another Krager that is not headed for the crusher.

Hi Larry,
This old bus is a little rough around the edges, but very fixable, I think the biggest problem will be finding a pass windshield for it, mines cracked I will of course just live with that until something turns up lol.
This one has two single bunks in the rear, one to each side, coming forward of the rear cabin, there are 2 closets, one each side, On the right, under the closet is one of the 2 furnaces, And ya know what? gimme a few days and I will try and get in there with the digital and take a ton of pics. I have been so busy trying to re plumb, and re wire all the spaghetti, that i dont have a single pic yet.. As for the IH driveline, in 73, the 392 was an improved design, known as the 392 IC, which stood for improved cooling, and with this having a rear heat unit, and a giant radiator, Im not to concerned that it will run hot. Unfortunately I didnt get any books on it. The only numbers I have found so far, is a chassis number from IH, and then the vin plate in the engine compartment, but I will have a look for that one. Apparently this year was built on what I believe is an s-1600 IH chassis, and even has a IH truck grill in it. In any event, I will get some pics up in a few days.

Clyde,
My chassis is the IH 1510MHC. That is even on the chassis plate under the hood. If it helps, I have a wiring diagram and acouple of other documents. I am not sure it would be the same since I think yours is a different model. I have interesting, but functional wiring. I just attact somethigng when it behaves badly and get it up to spec. Next to the door on mine is a Krager plate with a serial number on it. Does yours have this? Hard to read. But I figured mine out. How long is yours? Looks like maybe 24'. Mine is 28' with a big bath in the back. Used to have 5 individual bunks, I think. It has been changed around and now has a single queen in the center and that is it. Lots of space up front with no extra seating, just a little dance floor as the PO said. I need to get it better configured for the family as we need to put the kids somewhere, currently an air mattress on the dance floor. Let me know if the wiring diagram would help. I have found a chassis manual on the web somewhere, but have not purchased it yet, but it is available.

So far, the only plates I have found, are in the engine compartment, and one next to the driver seat. There does not appear to have ever been a door plate. This one is a 26 footer. The kitchen counter starts behind the driver seat, front to back is about a foot of couter, then the sink, then a bit more space, then the stove, with top ovenm its an old coleman stove. Under the counter, front to rear is one of the 2 furnaces, the water heater, and the water pump, with a big fiberglass water tank behind that. On the pass side is a pedestal with the fold and tumble seat/bed, then the entry door. Under the pedestal are 2 drawers facing into the hallway, and one compartment facing the entry step area, and an outside copartment also is under there, very large, and nice for holding lots of tools/chain/jack/oil, etc. back to the driver side, after the kitchen stuff, is a very large bathroom, no tub, but a very large shower, updated commode, and a small sink, with good sized shelves underneath it. following that is a decent sized closet, and then the bedroom wall.. Aft of the entryway is the fridge, and an area above for a microwave, followed by a big closet that someone lined with cedar (very nice) under the closet is the main furnace, and another nice touch, someone installed a central vac unit, its old but seems to work well. The rear bedroom consists of a single bunk per side, with a table hole in between them (This does not please my wife at all, but Im ok with it lol) under the driver side bunk is a large compartment, and the rear engine heat unit, like in a schoolbus, Pass side has a compartment, and the generator under it. The genset appears original, and is a onan6.5 NH and does run, needs a tuneup, but makes enough power to run at least one of the roof airs so far. Im not sure the wiring diagrams will do me any good, as this thing is a complete rats nest wiring wise. I am just going to have to go thru circuit by circuit, and straighten it all out. Rnr, thanks for the heads up on the glass outfit. C |

I had a Krager Coach, just like yours Clyde, many years ago when I lived in Houston. It was neat. Central AC in the basement, electric/and engine heated water. I sold it when I heard that gas was going to go up to $1.00 a gallon !! I wonder if it is the same one ?? I will be interested in your mods, and repairs. Penny, TX |
